The Joyce Country and Western Lakes Geopark will benefit tourism, education and boost jobs and income in this region of 20 communities through development of start-ups and business networks, food trails, accommodation, promotion of the unique culture and traditions and ways of living such as hill farming and fishing. Most importantly, it will be part of a global network with the internationally respected UNESCO status. UNESCO Global Geoparks Geoparks are places of internationally important geology managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and economic and social development.
